A home, not just a service
Heatherley is home for up to 32 adults with physical and learning disabilities. Set in 17 acres of beautiful countryside in Copthorne, West Sussex, we are only a short distance from Crawley. It’s a friendly, supportive environment where everyone plays a part in creating a warm, safe, and well-maintained home. As a Maintenance Assistant, you’ll help keep the building, equipment, and grounds in excellent condition — making sure everything runs smoothly for the people who live and work here.
Your working hours
We offer part time hours. Shifts will be discussed at interview stage.

Enhanced pay: £1.00 per hour will only apply to night working (8pm Monday to 7am Friday) and weekend working (8pm Friday to 7am Monday). This does not apply to Sleep-Ins.
What you’ll do
- Carry out day-to-day repairs and general maintenance of the building and grounds
- Support planned maintenance schedules, liaising with external contractors where required
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety standards and company procedures
- Conduct regular checks on equipment, fire alarms, and emergency lighting
- Help create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors
What helps you shine here
- Basic maintenance or handyman skills (painting, plumbing, joinery, or similar)
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Friendly, professional attitude and willingness to help others
- Previous experience in a care home or similar setting (helpful but not essential)
